Acai Berry Powder The fruit, comparable in size to a blue berry, comes from the acai palm tree (Euterpe oleracea), which is native to Central and South America. The reason you hardly ever see it in the market is that they are highly perishable and need to be freeze dried in order to preserve their benefits. A good source of natural antioxidants, the acai berry helps eliminate free radicals that contribute to premature aging and has rich essential fatty acids that help moisturize and smooth the skin.

Agar or Agar-Agar is a gelatinous substance derived from a polysaccharide that accumulates in the cell walls of red algae. Agar is a vegan gelatin alternative and is easily absorbed in water and therefore used as a thickening agent. Arrowroot Powder Arrowroot powder is the dried root of the arrowroot plant. Archaeological studies in the Americas show evidence of arrowroot cultivation as early as 7,000 years ago. It is mainly used as a thickening agent and to help draw out toxins from the skin.

Cocoa Powder, Organic - Fair Trade is made from roasted chocolate beans and is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants help cells repair and prevent cell damage by neutralizing free radicals, which can cause oxidative damage or aging. It is also an excellent moisturizer that will leave your skin feeling soft and glowing.

Coconut Milk Powder - Coconut milk is often thought to be the liquid that is inside the coconut. It is not the substance that is drinkable once the coconut has been cracked open. Rather, coconut milk is the milky substance that is pressed out of the soft interior of the coconut after it has been freshly picked. By removing all the water from the remaining coconut, powdered coconut milk is created. Coconut milk has naturally soothing properties that replace moisture in dehydrated skin.

Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide that is usually used as a food additive. It is produced from starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a creamy-white hygroscopic spray dried powder. It is used to reduce clumping in some of the powdered materials.

Papaya Leaf (Carica papaya) The leaf contains beta-carotene, calcium, carpaine, fats, flavonols, niacin, papain, tannins, and vitamin C (in higher concentration in the leaf than in the fruit). The latex is used as a freckle remover and dissolves dead skin to help fight blemishes.

Raspberry Leaf - Raspberries were said to have been discovered by the Olympians gods themselves while searching for berries on Mount Ida. The red raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) is a pale-green leaf produced by the raspberry plant. It’s rich in antioxidants and works to tonify and cleanse skin.

Sodium Caseinate A tasteless, odorless, water-soluble, white powder used to stabilize and prevent (for example, in coconut milk powder) the the fat from separating out of the powder. It is formed by dissolving casein (a milk based protein) in sodium hydroxide and then evaporating. Also known as casein sodium; nutrose.
