Collection: Calendula stimulates collagen
Calendula the Secret of Youth
Calendula or Marigold is from the Latin word “kalendae,” meaning first day of the month because pot marigolds are in bloom at the beginning of month. In the greco roman times, the brightly colored flowers were used as wreaths and it's also considered a sacred flower in India. The petals are edible and can be used fresh in salads or dried and used to color cheese or as a replacement for saffron. For healthy skin, you need collagen, a protein produced naturally by the body. Unfortunately, the production of collagen decreases with age and that's where Calendula oil can help you. Calendula oil is gentle, cooling and soothing, and is an effective topical remedy for dry and damaged skin, irritations, and other skin ailments. It's great for sensitive skin.
The antibacterial properties of the plant make it extremely useful in treating slow-healing cuts. The herb stimulates the production of collagen at wound sites and minimizes scarring. Calendula can also be used as a mouthwash to ease a sore throat.
CALM Natural DIY Beauty Recipes
Order pure Calendula Oil online or make your own by infusing dried calendula flowers in an oil. Olive oil or other carrier oils would work for the infusion. It generally takes 2-10 weeks for a proper oil infusion.
For REALLY DRY SKIN conditions, Apply the oil to your face at night prior to sleeping and in the morning. A very light coat should suffice.
For REGULAR TO SLIGHTLY DRY SKIN conditions, Apply the oil in the morning. To determine how well it is affecting your skin, we do not recommend using additional moisturizers or foundations for at least a week.
For MOUTH WASH, combine a 1/4 teaspoon of calendula oil with 1/8 cup of water. Stir and gargle in your mouth.
